On a solo morning drive on the 20th of September 2014, I spotted a pair of lionesses in tall grass on the E side of the Gomondwane Loop, 2 km S of the Duke Dam turnoff. They were quickly joined by other females & cubs, clearly intent on crossing the road en route to the Gomondwane water hole. I quickly retreated, and was rewarded by the awesome sight of two dozen of them crossing right in front of me. Assuming an average number of males, this pride probably consists of 30+ lions!
